Why Self-Care Isn’t Selfish
[01:25] Today’s topic is one that’s so important: self-care isn’t selfish. I know you’ve heard the phrase “You can’t pour from an empty cup”, but today, we’re breaking down why that’s actually true and how you can shift your mindset around self-care.
[01:46] When I talk about self-care, I’m not just referring to things like:
- Massages
- Pedicures
- Getting your hair done
- Coffee dates
Yes, those can be great forms of self-care, but the most important self-care happens at home, in small, everyday moments. And guess what? It doesn’t have to be expensive, time-consuming, or extravagant.
My 2NN Method: The Daily Self-Care Habit That Changed Everything
[02:24] If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ve probably heard about my 2NN Method (Two Non-Negotiables). This is how I ensure I prioritize daily self-care—even on the busiest days.
💡 Here’s how it works:
- Every day, choose TWO things that are just for you—things that bring joy, relaxation, or energy.
- It can be something as simple as reading a book, stepping outside for fresh air, or sipping your coffee in peace.
- A massage or a pedicure totally counts too—but you don’t have to wait for a spa day to prioritize yourself.
The power of this method is acknowledging that you deserve time for yourself every single day—not just when life slows down (because let’s be real, it never does!).
Why Prioritizing Yourself Helps Your Family
[04:26] Many moms feel guilty when they take time for themselves, but here’s the truth: ✅ When you feel good, your family benefits. ✅ When you take care of yourself, you show up as your best self. ✅ Your kids notice when you’re burnt out—and when you’re thriving.
Your children may not have the words to tell you, but they see and feel when your self-care is lacking. My daughter, for example, calls me out when I’m distracted or overwhelmed. Sometimes it’s hard to hear, but it’s also a powerful reminder that taking care of myself allows me to be a better mom.
How to Get Started with Self-Care Today
[06:52] If you’re feeling stuck, here’s how to begin: ✨ Commit to 2NN (Two Non-Negotiables) every day. ✨ Make a self-care list—small, everyday things that bring you joy. ✨ Set boundaries—stop saying “yes” to everything that drains you. ✨ Join a support system—you don’t have to do it alone!
And if you need guidance, accountability, and a structured way to start prioritizing yourself, then The Wellness with Vanda Club is for you.

[07:43] If you’re listening in the afternoon, do one small thing for yourself today. If it’s morning, stop what you’re doing and choose two things you’ll do for YOU today.
If you’re ready for real support, tools, and a step-by-step plan to feel like yourself again, get into the club before the doors close!
💡 And if the doors are already closed by the time you listen to this, DM me—I might have another way to help you.
Alright, I’ll leave it there. Take care of yourself—you deserve it. Talk to you next week!
